ICT Apprenticeships

It cannot be escaped….Information Technology is everywhere in our lives from websites, desktop PCs, smartphones, tablets, games, software, apps, online shopping etc, etc Thankfully, with all of this demand the IT industry is always looking for fresh talent and apprentice positions are available for those with a passion for IT.

There are a huge number of different roles available in the IT industry, what interests you? Web design? Systems Management and Support? Games, databases, applications? Or can you code the next Facebook, Snapchat or Twitter? What ever your interest, as long as you really want to be in IT there is a role for you.

There are two main learning aims that make up the IT, Software, Web & Telecoms Professionals Apprenticeship Framework. These are:

  1. Level 3 Diploma in ICT Professional Competence
  2. Level 3 Diploma for ICT Systems and Principles for IT Professionals

The Level 3 Diploma in ICT Professional Competence is the competence element of the course. You will be required to build a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates you meet the criteria of the qualification. To achieve this you will collect examples of the work that you do on a day to day basis and working with your assessor build the online portfolio. Your assessor will also observe you doing your job and hold recorded professional discussions with you.

The Level 3 Diploma for ICT Systems and Principles for IT Professionals is the knowledge element of the apprenticeship – the learning. You don’t need to spend days or weeks in college for this. Instead, we provide a number of online learning resources, hold study sessions and our tutors hold regular tutorials either online or in our training centre. These are designed for the tutors to work with you through this qualification providing guidance, mentoring and additional knowledge where required.

There is one other element that needs to be covered. For any candidates not in possession of either GCSE English, Maths and IT (Grade A-C) there is a requirement to complete your Functional Skills for that particular subject. Again, our tutors will work with you to ensure that you are successful.

Social Media Apprenticeships

Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Instagram, Blogs, Forums…..the list goes on. Today’s clever businesses have embraced the use of social media to keep current clients up to date with new products and ideas and have engaged new clients with clever marketing.

Facebook is a database of 1.2 billion names and if businesses are wise they can use social media to huge advantages. But, if they get it wrong the words “gone viral” can be awful. Companies are now looking for enthusiastic, social media apprentices to manage this aspect of their businesses. You consider a social media apprenticeship if you have a passion and a real understanding of social media and want to work in a growing part of any tech savvy business.

  • Level 3 Diploma in Social Media for Business (QCF)

Business Administration apprentices play a vital support role within any business. Having a well run office is the key to any successful business and apprentices can play a major part in this.

As a business and administration apprentice, your exact duties will depend on your employer. It’s likely that you’ll be working with a team or member of staff to handle various tasks. You may be typing up board meeting documents, putting financial information together in spreadsheets, sending the daily post, or faxing and photocopying confidential documents. This sort of work requires a strong sense of responsibility, accuracy and attention to detail.

Working with you

We support employers in a number of ways:

  • We work closely with employers to find suitable candidates. Once we have a job spec from an employer we are able to advertise the vacancy through a number of channels – This is free to employers.
  • Once we have applicants we review applications and then invite those that we feel suitable to an interview with us. This we we can put forward suitable candidates to the employer reducing their time spent interviewing candidtaes – This is free to employers.
  • Once a suitable candidate has been recruited by the employer we spend time inducting the apprentice, providing advice and guidance to the employer about pay, conditions and contracts. We then talk both the employer and the employer through the requirements of the qualification – This is free to the employer.
  • We deliver the training programme. Our assessors work with the apprentice to build their portfolio of evidence. Our tutors coach the then through their online learning material and we hold online tutorials and provide one to one support – This is free to the employer.

£1500 Employer AGE Grant

The AGE 16 to 24 Grant for Employers aims to support businesses, who would not otherwise be in a position to do so, to recruit individuals aged 16 to 24 into employment though the Apprenticeship programme.

The National Apprenticeship Service will provide AGE 16 to 24 to eligible employers, in respect of qualifying apprentices, with an individual value of £1,500. Employers can be paid ten grants in total during the lifetime of the initiative.
