Programme Content
1Health, Safety & PPE
Demonstrate proper PPE use and maintain a safe, professional workspace throughout the assessment.
2Copper Installation, Termination & Testing
Install, terminate and test UTP/FTP copper cable to industry standards, including panel-to-panel links and outlet termination. Maximum 2 hours.
3Fibre Installation, Splicing & Testing
Install and terminate fibre optic cable including fusion splicing, with testing via Insertion Loss Measurement (ILM) and OTDR. Maximum 5 hours.
4Multiple-Choice Knowledge Test
Theoretical assessment covering safety procedures, technical knowledge, and industry standards (BS EN 50173, TIA/EIA) relevant to your chosen pathway.
Entry Requirements
- Minimum 5 years professional network cable installation experience
- Evidence of experience (employer statements, project references, portfolio, or client testimonials)
- Current ECS Health, Safety & Environmental Assessment certificate
- Own PPE (safety glasses, gloves, safety boots, hi-vis clothing) — all tools and testing equipment provided
